My 4th Annual Marie Curie Blooming Great Tea Party

Posted on June 27, 2016

Hello!

So last Friday I held my annual Blooming Great Tea Party for Marie Curie. This is the fourth year that I have hosted a tea party and I was determined for it to be the best one yet!

Guests arrived from 10am and paid their £5 entrance before going off to explore what I had to offer! In my living room I had shopping stalls – clothes from Lollitots, jewellery from Chunkydory & gifts from BoxD Gifting, as well as the chance to buy raffle tickets (more on that later):

In my kitchen was a table laden with cakes:

And my husband did a sterling tea making job! We once again used his late grandmothers’ tea sets for the occasion and there is something very special about drinking tea out of bone china:

I did of course make (amongst other things) this year’s Campaign Cake: White Chocolate & Lemon Drizzle Bundt:

I must say a huge thank you to my fellow bakers on the day:

Natasha, Susie, Vered, John, Rachelle, Rebecca, Ravit, Martine, Hayley & Michelle – it really was a delicious spread and I am so grateful for your help with it all!

I was delighted to have a couple of special guests at my tea party! Firstly my mum, who unfortunately hasn’t been very well recently. I was so glad she was able to be there as guest of honour and to resume her role as ‘Entrance Fee Taker’ (no one got past my mum without paying!) 😉

Rosie Cake Diva is brilliant, exuberant and extremely funny lady and I was delighted to have her join in the festivities:

Here we are pictured with the totally fabulous John Holland – who despite it taking him 3 hours to get there (!!) was on fine form and delivered the most stunning cake!

It was a true honour to have Sally Monger-Godfrey attend my party. Sally is a Marie Curie nurse and I met her at Mel Giedroyc’s tea party where she gave the most incredible speech, explaining what her job means to her. She is so inspiring and I was really happy that she was able to come to my party.

So 30 minutes before the end of the party we all went into the garden, where I gave a short speech and drew the raffle!

The raffle alone, raised a whopping £740 this year and so I must thank the following incredible people/businesses for their generosity in providing raffle prizes for the day:

Fitbit, Kidzania, The Chesterfield Hotel Mayfair, Me Too! FoodsTrolley Bags, Dropbox, Gander Photography, Wilton, Infinity Brands, Hans Sloane, Mr Sherick’s Shakes, BoxD Gifting, Spice Way, Sugar Spice UK, Tea Time Events, Fairydust Studio, Chunkydory, Lollitots, Louis Mann, Xanna’s Cakes, Dinky Dancers, Mel Canter, Paula K, John, Simone, Hayley, Kim, Natalie, Rose, Hannah & Emma.

Oh and I almost forgot to tell you how much was raised…. *drum roll please*…..oh wait before the drum roll I must say that there is still possibly a little more money to come in, but the current total is….. *drum roll please*….

£1150

I am so proud to have raised so much money, to have beaten last year’s amount and to have had so much fun doing it! A HUGE thank you to all those who baked, attended, helped me on the day, bought raffle tickets (some bought tickets even though they couldn’t come), and raffle prize givers!

A big thank you to Natalie for once again providing spray tans upstairs! Mel Giedroyc finds it hilarious that I have spray tans at my tea parties, but I love the fact that you can come to my party, eat cake, shop, raise money for charity and then go home looking like you’ve spent two weeks in the Caribbean!!!

And an extra special thank you to Julian from Gander Photography who took the official photos of the day and really captured the event beautifully! I would HIGHLY recommend Julian for all of your photography needs.
